More than $1M worth of jewellery snatched during armed robbery: Toronto police

Toronto police are seeking four masked suspects after an armed robbery on May 10 netted more than $1 million in jewellery from two victims near Spadina and Bremner. The investigation continues with an appeal for public tips.

Toronto police are searching for four masked suspects who allegedly stole more than $1 million worth of jewellery in an armed robbery that took place in the downtown core earlier this month.

According to investigators, the men approached two victims who were parked in a vehicle near Spadina Avenue and Bremner Boulevard just before 5 a.m. on May 10. The suspects held the victims at gunpoint during the encounter.

Police say the bandits took jewellery from the victims and then fled in a blue Nissan Rogue equipped with stolen licence plates. The getaway vehicle was last seen with the four men inside, all dressed in dark clothing, hoodies and face masks.

One of the victims suffered minor injuries in the incident, authorities confirmed. The robbery has drawn attention because of the high value of the items taken.

Officials initially valued the jewellery at $500,000 but have since updated that estimate. They now say the haul could be worth more than $1 million.

The stolen items include a diamond watch, a chain and a pendant, according to the police description of the property. Investigators continue to piece together details from the early morning confrontation.

The area around Spadina Avenue and Bremner Boulevard is a busy part of the city near major attractions and transit lines. The timing of the robbery, just before dawn, left few witnesses in the immediate vicinity.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the suspects or the blue Nissan Rogue to come forward. Tips can be provided anonymously through established police channels.

The case remains under active investigation as officers review surveillance footage and other evidence collected from the scene. No arrests have been reported in connection with the robbery so far.

Similar armed robberies targeting valuables have occurred in Toronto in recent years, though police have not linked this incident to any others at this time. The focus remains on recovering the jewellery and identifying the four men involved.

Residents in the downtown core have expressed concern over the brazen nature of the daylight-adjacent crime. Local businesses nearby continue normal operations while police maintain their search.

Anyone who may have seen the suspects or the vehicle in the hours after the robbery is urged to contact Toronto police. Updates on the investigation will be released as new information becomes available.
