Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively Have Family Outing With Their Kids at Broadway Show

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively enjoyed a family outing at Jonathan Groff's final Broadway performance of Just in Time, where Reynolds bid $25,000 on a memorabilia hat for charity. The event follows their recent UK trip supporting Wrexham AFC, highlighting their private family life amid a timeline of marriages, births, and public moments.

New York City — Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively treated their family to a special evening on Broadway, joining their three daughters for the final performance of Jonathan Groff in Just in Time at the Circle in the Square Theatre on March 29.

The outing marked a rare public appearance for the couple's children, who typically stay out of the spotlight. Reynolds, seated in the row ahead of Lively with two of their daughters, participated in a post-show auction benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. He successfully bid $25,000 for the hat worn by Groff during his portrayal of singer Bobby Darin, according to witnesses and video footage from the event.

Groff personally delivered the hat to Reynolds, who then playfully placed it on the head of one of his daughters. The family — including 11-year-old James, 9-year-old Inez, and 6-year-old Betty — appeared to enjoy the evening, with Reynolds and Lively maintaining a low profile amid the celebratory atmosphere.

This Broadway night came just one day after Lively shared glimpses of the family's recent vacation in the United Kingdom. On March 28, the actress posted a photo carousel on social media, featuring a selfie with Reynolds and images from their time at Wrexham AFC's home stadium. One photo showed one of their children riding on Reynolds' shoulders.

"So grateful for the best week with my loved ones," Lively captioned the post. She thanked Wrexham AFC, its players, and stadium staff, adding, "Thank you @wrexham_afc and all the players and everyone who works at that stadium for the performance of a lifetime. The greatest 10,000 people to share an emotional roller coaster with is in Wrexham."

Lively also gave a nod to her sister Robyn Lively, joking, "*shout out to everyone (like my sweet sister in slide 10) who thinks someone is taking a photo of their cute outfit, when it's really a video." The post highlighted the family's support for Reynolds' involvement with the Welsh soccer club, which he co-owns with Rob McElhenney.

The couple, married since September 9, 2012, in a private ceremony in South Carolina, have long prioritized privacy regarding their children. They also share a 3-year-old son named Olin, born in early 2023. Reynolds revealed Olin's name and gender in February 2023, telling CNBC, "We wouldn't do this four times if we didn't love it. Everybody's doing great. Everybody's actually doing fantastic."

Reynolds has occasionally opened up about their parenting style. During a November appearance at the Wall Street Journal's CMO Summit in New York City, the 49-year-old actor discussed "soft parenting." "Soft parenting is new, right? I didn't have that," he said. "There's not a lot of yelling or punishments or anything like that. But I'll tell you something. I really don't believe that you have to be screwed up, f--ked to make good stuff."

He added a humorous note about their family dynamic: "And I think my kids feel safe. Are they still, like, spawns of Satan? Yes. Am I calling myself the Satan this moment? Yes. But they are. They are. They are still kids."

The Broadway excursion underscores the couple's efforts to balance high-profile careers with family life. Lively, known for films like It Ends With Us, and Reynolds, star of the Deadpool franchise, have been together since meeting on the set of Green Lantern in 2010. Early rumors of a secret wedding in May 2012 proved unfounded, but they did marry later that year.

Their family milestones have occasionally surfaced in public. Lively announced her first pregnancy in October 2014 via her lifestyle website Preserve, which stated, "Preserve at its core is about family. 'Family' is the single word our founder, Blake built this home on." Daughter James arrived in December 2014.

In September 2016, they welcomed Inez, with Lively showing her baby bump at events like a Cat & Jack launch for Target. Betty followed in October 2019, after Lively confirmed her third pregnancy at the Detective Pikachu premiere in May 2019.

Lively shared news of her fourth pregnancy in September 2022 at the Forbes Power Women's Summit, saying, "I just like to create. Whether that's baking or storytelling or businesses or humans, I just really like creating." The family has since embraced life with four children, often blending work and play, as seen in their Wrexham visits and red-carpet moments.

Public appearances together have included glamorous events like the Met Gala in 2014, where they showed rare PDA, and the 2016 amfAR gala. In May 2022, they co-chaired the Met Gala themed "America: An Anthology of Fashion." Reynolds received his Hollywood Walk of Fame star in December 2016, with Lively and their two young daughters in attendance.

Despite their fame, the couple's decision to bring three children to the Broadway show highlights a commitment to creating memorable experiences. The $25,000 auction bid not only secured a memento but also supported a vital cause, with proceeds aiding Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, which provides services for those affected by HIV/AIDS and other illnesses in the theater community.

As Reynolds and Lively continue to navigate stardom and parenthood, such family outings offer a window into their world. With upcoming projects — including Lively's It Ends With Us adaptation and Reynolds' ongoing Deadpool ventures — fans can expect more glimpses of their blended life, though the family remains protective of their children's privacy.

The evening at Just in Time served as a fitting tribute to Groff's run, which celebrated the life of Bobby Darin through music and storytelling. For Reynolds and Lively, it was another chapter in a story of love, laughter, and quiet generosity amid the bright lights of show business.
